Fraud
ChapmanAlbin is investigating claims on behalf of investors who suffered losses tied to former Morgan Stanley broker Jesus “Chuy” Rodriguez de la Cruz (listed in FINRA records as Jesus Rodriguez).
Rodriguez was recently sentenced to 12 years in federal prison after being convicted of defrauding investors out of more than $4.6 million in a multimillion-dollar investment scheme. While registered with Morgan Stanley from 2009 to 2021, Rodriguez misappropriated client funds and used his position as a trusted financial advisor to execute fraudulent transfers from at least 10 customer accounts.
According to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Rodriguez diverted investor assets for personal use while concealing the activity from both clients and his employer. FINRA barred him in 2021, and Morgan Stanley has since reportedly paid over $4.6 million in settlements to affected investors. The firm also disclosed losses of over $5.5 million due to Rodriguez’s misconduct.
Authorities, including the FBI, confirmed that Rodriguez exploited his fiduciary relationship with clients and manipulated his access to accounts to orchestrate the fraud.
Brokerage firms like Morgan Stanley have a duty to supervise their advisors and monitor customer accounts for red flags that may signal fraud or misappropriation. When that supervision fails, affected investors may have grounds for legal action.
If you were a client of Jesus Rodriguez or believe your Morgan Stanley accounts were mishandled, contact ChapmanAlbin today. We are actively investigating claims involving Rodriguez and may be able to help you recover losses.
