A final judgment was entered against James K. Couture for allegedly engaging in misappropriation of nearly $3 million. Couture fraudulently prompted clients to sell portions of their securities holdings in order to fund large money transfers to an entity that he owned. 

Couture pleaded guilty to ten criminal counts including one count of investment adviser fraud. He was sentenced to 100 months in prison and fines over $4 million.
